Qualification and Experience

Dr. Bart van Wagensveld is a consultant laparoscopic and bariatric surgeon with more than 20 years of experience. Between the year 1998 and 2003, he went onto complete his MD and PhD from the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He is a trained general surgeon at the Academic Medical Centre in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and expertise in Gastro-Intestinal and Laparoscopic Surgery. He also earned a Fellowship in London specializing in Pancreato- Biliary Surgery.

Contribution to Medical Science

Dr. Bart van Wagensveld main interest lies in primary and revisional surgeries like the adjustable gastric band, Roux-en Y Gastric Bypass, Sleeve Gastrectomy, Single Anastomosis Gastric Bypass (Mini Gastric Bypass), Bilio-Pancreatic Diversion with Duodenal Switch (BPD-DS) and Single Anastomosis Duodeno-ILeal Bypass (SADI). In 2004, He was made the consultant surgeon and head of the surgical department at the Sint Lucas Andreas Hospital in Amsterdam. It happens to be one of the biggest teaching hospitals in the Netherlands. Dr. Bart van Wagensveld was also the Chairman of the Medical Board at Sint Lucas Andreas Hospital in Amsterdam.
